WiHi drops anchor on Bennett; captures 24th city championship
The WiHi boys basketball team trailed 6-1 early in the first quarter, but went on a 19-2 run to end the frame, en route to a 92-67 victory on Thursday night.
Sophomore center Jayson Handy finished with a team-high 20 points and pulled down 8 rebounds in the win. Teammates Jaden Baker (18 points), Matt Lowe (15 points, 11 rebounds), and Dorian Stevens (10 points) also finished in double figures.
For Bennett, Jarrell Spates finished with a game-high 22 points. Savion Bivens (14 points), and Brandon Roberts (12 points) finished in double figures for the Clippers.
The win captures the 24th Salisbury city championship for the Tribe.
