Three additional flu-related deaths announced in Delaware

DOVER, Del. – The Delaware Division of Public Health (DPH) has announced that three more flu-related deaths have been reported in the state of Delaware.

According to DPH, an 83-year-old man and a 41-year-old woman, both from New Castle County, and a 74-year-old Sussex County woman have passed away as a result of complications of the flu. Two of the victims reportedly had known underlying health conditions, while one had suspected underlying health problems.

These recent deaths bring the total number of flu-related deaths in Delaware so far this season to eight. We’re told that all eight were infected with Type A Influenza.

DPH says it’s not too late to get the flu vaccine if you haven’t already. The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) has reported that the flu is widespread across most of the country, and they are expecting significant flu activity to continue for the next several weeks.
