Souperbowl fundraiser supports families in need in Sussex County

REHOBOTH BEACH, Del. – Dozens of people in Sussex County put their taste buds to the test on Saturday and it was all for a good cause.

The Souperbowl fundraiser hosted by the Salvation Army allows chefs to compete to see who has the best tasting soup.

With every vote by the public money is raised to support programs hosted by the non-profit.

According to event coordinator Miguel Alban the annual event is an opportunity for the community to support families in need in Sussex County.

“The community is always part of our army,” said Lieutenant Alban.

“Without their help we can’t be in the communities that we are in, so we have events like the Souperbowl, so that we can get to know people from the community,” said Alban.

The event coordinator also said some of the chefs who compete work at local restaurants throughout the county.
