Salisbury University dining services teams up with program to give students free meals

SALISBURY, Md. –  Salisbury University’s Food for Flock food pantry is teaming up with the school’s dining services to help students who may be food insecure.  Currently, students who have a meal plan can donate their unused guest passes to students who use the school’s food pantry and are in need of meals. School officials say this partnership is critical to make sure no student goes hungry. They say they’re excited to work with dining services in order to reach that goal.

“We have over 4000 students who are on meal plans who can elect to donate meals and guest passes that come with every plan. Typically those passes are used for friends or family, but this way it’s a nice opportunity for students to use it for fellow students,” said Director of the Dining Services Owen Rosten.

If you’re interested in taking part of this initiative there are a couple of things that you can do: When selecting your meal plan online you can choose the “guest donation option,” or you can visit the food pantry at the University at the Scarborough Leadership Center.
