Salisbury man arrested on DUI, resisting arrest charges

SALISBURY, Md. – A Salisbury man is behind bars after police responded to a reported altercation Sunday afternoon.

A deputy from the Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office responded to a residence in the 500 block of Swan Road shortly before 3 PM. On arrival, the deputy was informed that 60-year-old David Robinson had left the residence but returned and drove onto the property.

As the deputy approached Robinson, a strong odor of alcohol was detected, along with other indicators that led the deputy to assume that Robinson was operating his vehicle while under the influence of alcohol.

When questioned, Robinson denied consuming alcohol and tried to flee from the deputy, however, the deputy was able to prevent Robinson from leaving, and began attempts to conduct sobriety testing. However, Robinson declined testing, leading the deputy to attempt to take him into custody. Despite Robinson resisting arrest, the deputy was eventually able to place him in handcuffs while he verbally abused and threatened the deputy.

Robinson is currently being held in the Wicomico County Detention Center pending a District Court bond review.
