Salisbury avoids scare; opens season with 9-7 win over Berry College

SALISBURY, Md. – The Salisbury Men’s Lacrosse team opened their 2019 campaign at home Sunday afternoon hosting Berry College.

The Sea Gulls would lead 3-0 after the first quarter but the Vikings would ramp up the pace before the half; ripping off three goals in the second to trail 4-3 heading into the half.

The third quarter would also fall in favor of the Vikings, knotting the game at 5-5 with goals from Andrew Elgin and Luke Koferl.

Salisbury would open the fourth quarter with a goal from Corey Gwin after just 29 seconds and the Sea Gulls would run the table from there.

Josh Melton would tally four goals for the Sea Gulls on the day. Corey Gwin and Cross Ferrera would each add a pair of goals as well. Brandon Warren notched 17 saves as Salisbury moves to 1-0 with the 9-7 win.
