Ocean City officials push for convention center renovation in Annapolis

ANNAPOLIS, Md. – Progress is slowly but surely being made to get renovations underway for the Ocean City Convention Center. Earlier Wednesday, Ocean City  officials testified in front of the senate budget and taxation committee in favor of Governor Larry Hogan’s proposed legislation that would help finance the renovation. Legislators say the Maryland Stadium Authority is looking to increase the amount of money they can get in state bonds, and the amount of money that the town would invest in the project, which would bring hundreds of jobs and millions of dollars to the eastern shore.

“This has been a phased project over the past three or four years but the renovation has been long overdue and we need to expand capacity there,” said Senator Addie Eckardt.

Eckardt adds that the bill hearing went smoothly without any objections, and she expects the committee will vote on the legislation sometime next week.
