JTVCC trial day four: 25 hours of deliberation, still no verdict

WILMINGTON, Del. – Four days, 25 hours of deliberation, and still no answer. And as we near the end of the work week with no verdict, many are wondering what happens next? Abednego Baynes, Kevin Berry, John Bramble, and Obadiah Miller all four inmates whose fate could be decided with one or two simple words: guilty, or not guilty. But they’ll have to wait a little while longer. As the jury will now have to go into day five of deliberations. The four inmates, facing a number of charges including three charges of first degree murder in the death of Lt. Stephen Floyd, who was killed in the 2017 riot. One of the things the jury may be having a tough time with is that the state is asking that each and every one of these men be convicted for murder, since they acted as accomplices. And in the first state, you can be convicted of accomplice liability. But the defense continues to argue that the state’s only real evidence are witnesses who happen to be other inmates. And they believe their testimonies have too many inconsistencies and contradictions. They also argue that the state’s witnesses are currently being housed together– and believe they’ve formed a plan to have similar stories.  It’s been confirmed that there was one question asked by the jury on Friday. And although 47 couldn’t get an exact answer as to what it was pertained to, it was alluded that the jury is focusing in on one specific charge.
