Hurlock on track to create museum to preserve past
HURLOCK, Md. – Hurlock is a town on the Eastern Shore that has some rich history and that’s why a new effort is underway to try and preserve their past.
The town council is taking the initiative to collect items from the community and the entire North Dorchester area to put it on display.
We’re told if they don’t get it now, it may be lost forever.
Council president, Charles Cephas, tells 47 ABC that since 1892, Hurlock has been the hub for transportation, farming, and manufacturers. And now, they need donors to collect those items. “Pictures, items that would reflect on the railroad and the history. We had a dairy here, we had a theatre here, we have had a lot of things here and those artifacts would be wonderful for our kids to learn about,” Cephas.
Right now, they are in the planning stages to see if the museum will be at the train station or the old police department.
Mayor Michael Henry tells 47 ABC that they have asked local politicians for signs and even asked North Dorchester High School for items, since their old building will be torn down.
