Easton avenges early season loss to CSD, takes the Bayside North
EASTON, Md.- Behind 19 points from Lamont Powell and Jaden Copper with 12, the Easton Warriors moved to 15-4 with a 62-40 win over Cambridge (16-6).
Just over a month ago, the Vikings won a thriller over Easton at home when Keshawn Potter hit a game winning 3 as time expired. This time, the Warriors had the home court advantage and the crowd on their side. A match up of the top two teams in the Bayside North, the winner gets a chance to play for the conference.
A sold out game before the start of the JV match up, both teams got out to a slow. Lamont Powell would get the scoring started 3 minutes into the game with a step back three, he had 19 on the night. Easton would lead by 3 after the first quarter and extend their lead to 7 going into the halftime break 27-20. Jaden Copper would lead all scorers at the break with 10 points along with Lamont Powell’s 7.
The second half would start out close with CSD cutting the lead to 4 but thats as close as they would get. A defensive explosion for the Warriors fueled by 3 quick steals from Alek Riedel to help Easton pull away for the 62-40 win.
Easton will look to continue their hot streak when they take on Kent County next Tuesday. The Vikings will try and get back in the win column with a win over North Dorchester next Thursday.
