Delaware State University student dies from Smyrna crash

DOVER, Del. -Delaware State Police announced one of the students involved in the serious crash on State Route 1 in Smyrna on February 23rd has died.

23 year old, Marlon Jackson, the driver of the Chevy impala, has succumbed to his injuries on February 28th, 2019.

Delaware state Police has released the names of the other students involved:

Giovanni Downie from Brooklyn, New York; Marcus Dunn from Jersey City, New Jersey; Jordan Hannah from Rockaway Beach, New York.

Officials say the four students were driving along the highway when for unknown reasons the car began to spin out of control.

The car crossed over the center median into the northbound lanes and collided with a pick up truck.

Students told 47 ABC that they heard the driver of the car was allegedly pledging a fraternity.

As part of the hazing process, he had to stay awake for long periods of time.

Delaware State Police are still investigating this crash.

They say that investigation is in the very early stages, and further details will be released as they become available.
