Construction work continues in Downtown Salisbury

SALISBURY, Md. – Things are busy in Salisbury, as construction work Downtown continues.

47 ABC caught up with Mayor Jake Day, on Monday, to check in on the progress. He says the current road construction, at the block of Main Street between the completed section and North Division Street, should be done in April.

Meanwhile, the new traffic circle on Riverside Drive should start in late April and be done in time for the National Folk Festival. As chaotic as all this work is, Mayor Day says it’s necessary.

“It’s obviously not fun to have things under construction but it’s a necessity. It’s important. We couldn’t ignore it any longer. Not only the business community asking for a better streetscape but the needs of our infrastructure and our failing infrastructure,” says Mayor Day.

Mayor Day also says that new security cameras will be installed in the parking garage. Construction on the City’s new town square, complete with a splash pad, will begin in late spring of 2019.
