City of Salisbury seeking artist to paint mural
SALISBURY, Md. – In Salisbury, the city is searching for an artists to paint a mural at the corner of one of the busiest intersections. City officials say the mural would be painted on the side of the building at the corner of East Church Street and Route 13. Which was once a sex shop. Mayor Jake Day tells us that for the past two months, public input sessions were held to allow residents and neighbors of the mural to be a part of the final design. He says that once a final design is chosen, it will be given to the artist to paint. And he adds that funding for materials and an artist stipend of $1,000 will be provided.
“We’re looking for an artist and a partner to paint really what the community has said they want to see. The neighborhood I think deserves beautification and investment and we want to make that in this neighborhood we feel like it’s been a long time coming,” Day said.
Day says interested artists must submit a resume and five pieces of artwork to Kevin Lindsay at klindsay@salisbury.md. He adds that the deadline for applications is March 10th. And the winning artist will be announced no later than March 15th.
