YMCA supports families in need with Bowl for Kids Fundraiser

LEWES, Del. – Nearly a hundred people strapped on their bowling shoes on Sunday to support families in need.

The annual Bowl for Kids hosted by the non-profit Sussex Family YMCA has raised over $10,000 dollars so far.

According to the Executive Director Tamisha Hopkins the fundraiser is a chance to give scholarships out to low-income families who cannot afford summer camp.

More specifically, Hopkins said the scholarships will allow kids to attend their summer camp at the YMCA.

“Specifically we are sending kids to camp, so our main purpose around here is to make sure that kids have a safe haven, a place to come learn, have fun, meet kids and for those who can’t afford it, for them to come inside or outdoors and be able to have a fun-filled summer,” said Hopkins.

Hopkins also said the event kicks off YMCA’s annual campaign that aims to support families.
