Traffic violation leads to drug charges for Salisbury man
SALISBURY, Md. – A Salisbury man was charged after police found marijuana in his vehicle during a traffic stop Sunday evening.
Shortly before 9:30 PM, a deputy from the Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office stopped a vehicle on Route 50 at Autumn Grove Court, in Salisbury, after the driver was observed using a handheld cell phone while operating the vehicle.
As the deputy approached the vehicle, they noticed a strong odor of what was believed to be marijuana, and a search of the vehicle was conducted.
Almost a pound of marijuana was found inside the vehicle, and the driver, 21-year-old Jiquae Matthews, was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute. Matthews was later released on an unsecured bond.
