Traffic Alert: Drainage improvements to close Burnite Mill Rd. in Felton

FELTON, Del. – If you plan on traveling through the Felton area next week, you may run into a bit of a delay. Starting on Monday, officials with the Delaware Department of Transportation will begin drainage improvements and that means that a Portion of Burnite Mill Road will be closed. DelDot officials say over time the cross pipes that carry water under the road will corrode and breakdown, which could cause major issues if left unchecked. State leaders say the maintenance is routine but necessary in order to to prevent future construction issues.

“Getting out there when we see these pipes are due for replacement getting the new ones in and getting the road patched up and re-opened is something that we do on a regular basis just to make sure that we are keeping all of our infrastructure in a state of good repair,” said  Director of Community Relations for DelDot, C.R. McLeod.

Officials add that weather permitting, they’ll have construction complete by the end of the week on Friday, January 11th.
