Town council weighs decision on proposed housing project

GEORGETOWN, Del. –  A new residential community could be coming to Georgetown. Wednesday night the town council held public hearing about the proposed construction project before their council meeting.

The project, which would be located behind the shopping center along Route 113, would include 288 apartment units and 121 single family homes on 70 acres.

Those who attended raised concerns about the traffic and public safety concerns that would come with this.

However, Mayor Bill West said this is a project many have been waiting for.

“It’s under consideration because we’re looking to grow in this town. We’ve been held down too long… I think we’re heading in the right direction with what you’re looking at, and we appreciate that.”

We’re told the decision on whether to move forward with the proposal will be made at the next town council meeting.
