Suspect arrested in connection to two robberies in Dover apartment complex parking lot
DOVER, Del. – Dover Police say they have a suspect in custody in connection to two robberies that happened at the County Village Apartment complex earlier this month.
The first incident happened on January 10th, shortly after 5:30 PM. An 18-year-old male victim was reportedly waiting in the parking lot waiting to meet an alleged seller from the “LetGo” app to purchase a cell phone, when he was approached by four male suspects. One of the suspects then reportedly hit the victim in the face and stole his wallet, before fleeing the scene.
The second incident happened on January 19th, shortly after 8:30 PM. A 50-year-old male victim was also waiting in the parking lot to meet up with an alleged “LetGo” seller to purchase a cell phone, when he was approached by a male suspect who snatched the phone from him and fled in a gray Pontiac G6 sedan. The victim fell to the ground and suffered minor injuries as a result.
On Monday, the Dover Police Department and the U.S. Marshals First State Fugitive Task Force arrested 18-year-old Garrett Hawkins in connection to the two incidents. He is charged with first and second degree robbery, possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony, second degree conspiracy, and terroristic threatening, and is currently being held at the Sussex Correctional Institution on $47,500 cash bond.
