Single vehicle accident claims the life of one on New Year’s Eve

TEMPERANCEVILLE, Va. – According to Virginia State Police, a single vehicle crash claimed the life of a Virginia man Monday evening.

The accident happened on Chesser Road at the intersection of Sand Street at 9 PM. Police say the vehicle, a 2005 Ford Focus, was traveling eastbound on Chesser Road when the driver lost control and ran off the roadway, hitting several trees. The driver was ejected from the vehicle.

The driver, identified as 45-year-old Dietrich Geramane Davis of Horntown, VA, died at the scene. Officials say Davis was not wearing his seat belt at the time of the accident.

It is unknown if alcohol was a factor in the crash.
