Residents take on the Fenwick Freeze on New Years Day

FENWICK ISLAND, Del. – Nearly a hundred people came out Tuesday morning to take a dive in the cold water to support their local beach patrol.

The annual event Fenwick Freeze helps to raise thousands of dollars for the Fenwick Island Beach Patrol.

According to the event coordinator, the beach patrol is in need of funding and they depend on these community events for resources.

“Fenwick tries to get everybody together to help support of lifeguards that work really hard in the summer, and they cover about two miles of beach,” said Rebecca McWilliams, the event coordinator.

McWilliams said some of the money being collected will also go towards the Ocean City Beach Patrol.
