UPDATE: Teen charged in connection to Kent Island High School bomb threat incident

2/7 UPDATE: The Queen Anne’s County Sheriff’s Office says charges have been filed in connection to the reported bomb threat that was sent to Kent Island High School back on January 14th.

We’re told that a thorough investigation led police to identify a 14-year-old male as the suspect, who later admitted to sending the bomb threat to the school’s principal. He is charged with disturbing school activities, threat of mass violence, threat of arson, and false statement regarding destructive device.

STEVENSVILLE, Md. – The Queen Anne’s County Sheriff’s Office is working to investigate a bomb threat that was reportedly called into Kent Island High School earlier this morning.

Officials say they received a call around 6:30 AM regarding a bomb threat that the school’s principal, John Schrecongost, had received. Law enforcement immediately began escorting students safely from the building and relocated them to a nearby church while an investigation was conducted.

K-9 teams were deployed to help with the search and scanned the premises for explosives. Following a careful and lengthy search, law enforcement determined that there was no threat to the students or their safety.

Students returned to the school at around 10 AM, and as a precaution, sheriff’s from the Queen Anne’s Sheriff’s Office will remain present on campus for the remainder of the day.
