Organizations collecting water for Tangier Island

ACCOMACK Co., VA – Several community organizations are collecting water to ship out to Tangier Island.

Those organizations include the Bloxom Fire Department, the Elks Lodge in Accomack County, and the Exmore Town Office and Police Department.

Since Friday, we’re told over 2,000 cases of water have been shipped to Tangier and recently, a local business man flew over 75 gallons of distilled water for medical use.

We’re told this all just goes to show how the community comes together to help one another out in a time of need.

Wayde Fowler, an organizer with Elks Lodge said, “The community around Onancock and Tangier area, Accomack, Northampton County is totally different from anywhere in the world I think because the community comes together so quickly”

You have until Friday at 5 p.m. to drop off a donation of water.

That water will be shipped out to Tangier Island Saturday morning.
