Officials look for feedback ahead of Records Pond Dam construction

LAUREL, Del. –  In Sussex County, DNREC and DelDot officials held a public meeting Monday for residents to hear their thoughts and ideas about the upcoming construction on the Records Pond Dam. Officials tell us this is the second major project that they’ll be completing in the county and they expect it will take over a year to complete. They say the dam is in dire need of improvements to create a safer environment for residents.

“We’ll also be taking advantage of the opportunity to make the pond more stable, to also put in new outlet structures so that the pond could be lowered, or control the level of the pond in the event of a need or an emergency to do that,” said DelDot project manager Steve Richter.

Officials add that the project is expected to start in June of this year, and they hope to finish the improvements by the fall of 2020.
