New parking changes coming to Dover

DOVER, Del. – Some parking changes are coming to Downtown Dover. Starting Wednesday, parking will be restricted in certain areas.

The Loockerman Way Lot behind the Santa House will now be metered only.

As for the Bradford Minor Lot, it will be permit parking only, and drivers must have a blue parking pass to use the lot.

The Governors Avenue Lot will be parking by permit, but you can also park in the lot for two hours for free.

Street parking will remain free for two hours, and the North Street Lot is no longer open to public parking.

We’re told the City is giving people until January 21st to get used to the changes. They will be issuing warnings until then.

Tina Bradbury, the Operations Manager at the Downtown Dover Partnership said,”So we’re going to give out some warnings these first few weeks, just getting people used to it and not only is it a warning, but it’s also reminding them where they can go to park, and this way it’s an easy transition.”

We’re told all of these changes are just part of a bigger project.

The City has plans to build a parking garage moving forward.
