Nature lovers flock to the shore for Winter Delmarva Birding Weekend

BERLIN, Md. – Hundreds of people got together on Sunday to explore the peninsula as part of the Winter Delmarva Birding Weekend.

According to event coordinator Dave Wilson people from around the world often visit Delmarva for its bird species.

Wilson said places like Berlin and Lewes are home to more than a hundred birds like Seabird, Shorebirds and even Raptors.

Visitors also got the chance to hike and enjoy boating trips.

Wilson also said events like the Winter Delmarva Birding Weekend show off the unique animals we have on the shore.

“People don’t realize that winter is a great time to bird there’s just so many birds, ducks and eagles in particular,” said Wilson.

“And, so we get them out and just have a blast on public and private property and just have folks from all over the Eastern Shore,” said Wilson.

The event coordinator said visitors often get the chance to watch seals and other wildlife during the weekend as well.
