MSP conducting death investigation in Salisbury
SALISBURY, Md. – Maryland State Police say they are actively working to investigate the death of a woman in Salisbury.
According to police, a report of a body on the side of the road in Wicomico County came in shortly after 3 PM Sunday. Troopers responded to the call and located the body of an unresponsive woman approximately one-half mile from the intersection of Johnson Road and Bear Swamp Road in Parsonsburg, roughly 10-15 feet from the road in the wood line.
The woman has been identified as 30-year-old Ashlie Meadow-Simms of Parsonsburg, who was pronounced dead at the scene. Investigators believe that Ashlie was last seen in the area of her home in the 3000 block of Johnson Road between 10 PM and 11 PM on January 11th.
Autopsy results are pending examination by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore.
Police tell us they do not yet know if foul play was involved in the death. They do say, however, that there is no threat to the public.
