Monster Mile prepares for 50th anniversary season

DOVER, Del. – The International Speedway is revamping its iconic monster trophies as part of their 50th anniversary season.

The massive icons will be changed from concrete to a metallic gold color. A spokesperson for the speedway says they’re working to make this their biggest year yet, as fans from all 50 States and foreign countries visit Dover.

“We’re gonna bring back drivers who have had success here on the track. We’ve got lots of added entertainment that’s gonna be happening. Free concerts like we always do. But lots of experimental and experiential opportunities for people to get involved on race weekend,” says Gary Camp with Dover International Speedway.

Dover Mayor Robin Christiansen adds, “Happy anniversary. Thanks for your presence and we look forward to another 50 years of success for the City of Dover and Dover International Speedway.”

The 2019 Monster Mile triple headers will be from May 3rd to the 5th and October 4th to the 6th. Organizers say they’ll be announcing even more race weekend events on social media in the coming weeks.
