Milton Theatre gifted large donation, funds to go towards upgrades
MILTON, Del. – The theatre in Milton received a $100,000 donation from the Crystal Trust this weekend.
This is their biggest donation to date, one that will mostly fund an upgraded lighting grid.
The theatre has received donations of $25,000-$40,000 before, but officials with the theatre say they believe this will get the ball rolling on other big donations.
Officials say this is also big for the area, as the theatre is a big economic driver for the town.
“Every time there’s a sold out show at the theatre, easily the local restaurants there’s a two hour wait to get seated. So it’s definitely a boost for the local economy,” said JP Lacap, the director of marketing for the Milton Theatre.
We’re told this will help the theatre continue to grow. Officials say they have gone from 70 shows the year it first reopened, to more than 300 events this year.
