Millsboro police chief appointed DPAC chair

MILLSBORO, Del. – Millsboro Police Chief Brian Calloway is now responsible for keeping police departments in check statewide after being appointed chair of the Delaware Police Accreditation Committee (DPAC) this week.

Calloway was given the position of DPAC after the prior chair stepped down and asked that Calloway take over making Calloway the first chair to come from Sussex County.

DPAC is a third party committee that checks in on various agencies to make sure they are serving their communities the right way. They’re also responsible for accrediting new police departments.

“It’s going to have someone else that’s looking at the polices and procedures to confirm that you’re doing that. We all have rules and regulations whether it comes to your hiring practices or the way that you do inventory but are you doing that? So it’s also going to cover accountability which is very important,” explains Calloway.

The current goal of DPAC is to get six more agencies accredited by the state.
