Mardela man arrested in connection to December assault incident
MARDELA SPRINGS, Md. – A Mardela man is behind bars after he reportedly assaulted and threatened several people with a gun on December 26th.
According to police, 29-year-old Travis Gaines became involved in a disturbance in the 25000 block of Elzey Brown Loop, leading him to pull out what was believed to be a semi-automatic handgun, which he began pointing at the victims. Gaines also allegedly grabbed one of the victims by the neck and pushed her to the ground.
Gaines fled the scene prior to police arrival, however, the handgun reportedly used by Gaines was recovered by police.
A warrant for Gaines’ arrest was issued, and he was located at a home in Vienna, MD, on Thursday. Gaines was arrested and charged with 1st degree assault, 2nd degree assault, handgun on person, handgun use/crime of violence, and reckless endangerment.
He is currently being held at the Wicomico County Detention Center without bond.
