Laurel Police arrest Salisbury man on assault, drug charges

LAUREL, Del. – Laurel Police arrested a Salisbury man after he reportedly stabbed a man after getting off of a bus.

On Tuesday, Laurel Police received a report of an assault in the area of Carvel Gardens Apartments in Laurel. On arrival, the victim told police that a man, identified as 21-year-old Stefone Belong, followed him after getting off of a bus and began stabbing and cutting him. The victim reported that he did not know the man who stabbed him and that he had never seen him before.

The victim was taken to Nanticoke Hospital for treatment of severe lacerations to his head and face.

Police located Belong shortly after meeting with the victim. Belong was reportedly still in possession of the weapon, as well as marijuana.

Belong was charged with first degree assault, possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony, possession of marijuana, and terroristic threatening. He is currently being held at the Sussex Correctional Institution on a $121,250 cash bond.
