Laurel man arrested on theft and burglary charges
SALISBURY, Md. – A Laurel man is behind bars after he reportedly broke into a home and stole blank checks during the early morning hours of January 7th.
Police say the incident happened a home in the 3000 block of Gold Hawk Mews in Salisbury. James Joseph Mews reportedly entered the home through a window while the residents were not home and stole blank checks before leaving in an Uber.
Further investigation revealed that Raab then made the checks out to himself, forged the victim’s signature, and cashed them. Raab also allegedly sent a text message to the victim threatening to burn his home down. Police say the suspect and the victim do know each other.
Raab was arrested shortly after 9 AM on January 16th, and was charged with 1st degree burglary, theft, threat of arson, issuance of a false document, and forgery. He is currently being held at the Wicomico County Detention Center without bond.
