IRSD to host public meetings for upcoming referendum

SELBYVILLE, De. – In Sussex County, the Indian River School district is preparing to hold four important meetings that could determine the school districts future. Over the next couple of weeks the district will highlight the major capital improvement and current expense referendum that’s scheduled for February 5th.
Officials say the referendum seeks funding for the construction of a new Sussex Central High School while also creating classroom additions for the Indian River High School and the Selbyville Middle School. They add that because the school district is growing each year with more students attending their schools, they’re simply running out of room.

“We’ll be showing some of the projections that we have so folks will understand why we’re going and asking for major capital money to build the school and add the additions as well as taking a look at what this actually does to your tax bill,” said superintendent Mark Steele.
