Historical site in Dorchester riddled with bullets: Police need your help
VIENNA, Md. – Officials with the Nanticoke Historical Preservation Alliance are asking for the public’s help in identifying the person or persons involved in vandalizing a historical site in Dorchester County. Over the holiday weekend officials found that the Handsell House was riddled with bullet holes. They tell us the Dorchester Sheriff’s Office found up to 16 shell casings when they arrived. Those involved shot at the building, signs, and other areas while also damaging a newly installed window. Now officials tell us they’re taking every precaution to make sure something like this doesn’t happen again.
“We thought maybe the hole in the window was a shot from a deer hunter or something and it had just gone amidst but then we realized it was intentional damage. The point is we don’t want to see it happen again and so we will be installing lighting, and cameras,” said Nanticoke Historical Preservation Alliance President Margaret Ingersoll.
For now, officials say they don’t have any leads regarding those involved in the shooting incident. They add if you do have any information or have seen anything, to contact Maryland State Police Easton Barrack at 410-822-3101.
