Groups join forces to address rising prescription drug prices

SALISBURY, Md. – Local officials and residents gathered to discuss how to address the growing issue of prescription drug prices in the area.

The Wicomico Commission on Aging and the Maryland Citizens Health Initiative joined forces to plan how to attack this growing problem, especially among seniors.

We’re told certain drugs could go up in price by up to sixty percent just this year.

This has become a problem for many who have to decide between life saving medication and paying for food or rent.

“I have to choose which I’m going to do, and I might do this in June, and not do it in July. It’s life threatening for a lot of people. And they’re afraid,” said Sally Smith, co-chair of Wicomico Commission on Aging.

The goal is to form a plan to take to Annapolis to enact change in the Maryland legislature.
