Governor Carney happy to see new faces in General Assembly

DOVER, Del. – On Tuesday, 47ABC caught up with Governor John Carney to hear what he had to say regarding the new session.

The Governor says he is excited about the new faces joining the General Assembly.

He thinks their recent campaigning or going door to door will be useful, because these new elects can help educate other legislators understand the current issues Delawareans want to have addressed.

As for what issues Governor Carney wants to see tackled, he says he hopes to see bills passed to help improve education, grow Delaware’s economy and manage the state budget.

Gov. Carney said, “We’re going to have a budget surplus this year which will create a bit of a challenge for me and for legislators in making sure that we appropriate accordingly anticipating that times will be tough some time down the road.”
