Former Delmar Fire employee sues after claiming she was sexually harassed

DELMAR, Del. – A former Delmar Fire Department volunteer is now suing the department after she claims she was sexually harassed by a member of the department and then faced discrimination for coming out about it.

According to court documents, April Molchan claims second assistant Chief Andrew M. Rementer allegedly touched her thigh and rear end.

In the complaint Molchan also claims the department violated her civil rights after not allowing her to work after she filed a suit against him and failed to protect her from her harasser by not firing him.

In a statement, Molchan’s lawyer said, “April was subjected to hate and was subsequently fired in retaliation to the initial lawsuit. She was an asset to the community. We can not tolerate this behavior.”

47 ABC reached out to the Delmar Fire Department for comment but they did not return our calls.
