Family of man who died in Caroline County create a GoFundMe

PRESTON, Md. – A family in Preston is desperately looking for help after their father died from liver cancer last Saturday.

According to sister-in-law Stacy Whitby, Michael Ropchock left a wife and four children and he was their only source of income.

That is why they started a GoFundMe and are asking for $20,000 dollars to help pay for their expenses.

Whitby said a burial alone cost the family $14,000 dollars. And, she said any donation helps.

“Every little bit helps my sister,” said Whitby.

“Even after burying him, it’s still going to leave a burden with my sister trying to work,” said Whitby.

Whitby also said Ropchock was unexpectedly diagnosed on December 31 and died just a few weeks after.
