DSP investigating fatal crash in Frederica

FREDERICA, Del. – Delaware State Police are investigating a crash that left one dead and another in serious condition last week.

Officials say the incident happened just after 11:30 AM on January 9th. A Ford F-250 was traveling eastbound on SR 12 (Midstate Road) approaching the intersection of SR 15 (Canterbury Road) when the driver failed to stop at the posted stop sign/flashing red light and subsequently hit the driver’s side door of a Dodge Ram that was traveling northbound on SR 15.

The driver of the F-250, a 50-year-old Clayton man, was reportedly wearing his seat belt and was taken to Milford Memorial Hospital where he was released with no injuries.

The driver of the Ram, identified as 80-year-old Vaughn Wooten of Felton, was reportedly wearing his sea tbelt and was initially taken to Bayhealth Kent General, but was later transferred to Christiana Hospital where he died on Sunday as a result of his injuries.

A 76-year-old female passenger in the Ram was reportedly not wearing her seat belt and was ejected from the vehicle. She was initially taken to Bayhealth Kent General but was later taken to Christiana Hospital where she remains in serious condition.
