UPDATE: Arrest made in string of tire slashing incidents
Dover Police have arrested a Felton man in connection to the series of reported tire slashing incidents in the Dover area.
Just before 7 PM Tuesday, officers saw a blue 2006 Toyota Corolla with a headlight out in the area of West Division Street and North West Street. After determining that the vehicle matched the suspect vehicle that was described and shown in store surveillance footage, officers stopped the vehicle.
Police detected the odor of marijuana on contact with the driver, 24-year-old Anthony Williams, and located a small amount and a black pocket knife inside the vehicle. Williams was subsequently taken into custody and questioned in reference to the dozens of tire slashing cases.
Further investigation revealed that Williams was responsible for 32 acts of cutting tires, five of which occurred in July of 2018.
Williams was charged with 32 counts of criminal mischief, possession of marijuana, driving while suspended/revoked license, and miscellaneous traffic offenses. He was later released on an O.R. (no bail) bond.

DOVER, Del. – Dover Police are asking for the public’s help in their investigation into a series of tire slashing incidents in Dover.
Police say they have responded to almost 20 cases since January 19th, mostly in the commercial/business district along the Route 13/113 corridor. Most cases reportedly involved the slashing of two tires on either the drivers or passengers side of the victim’s vehicle.
Officers have been able to obtain surveillance footage of a possible suspect vehicle at a local Wawa store, which shows the suspect getting out of a dark-colored vehicle and cutting both passenger side tires of another vehicle before fleeing the scene.
While the video is not clear, police believe the suspect vehicle is a dark blue 4-door sedan, with a silver rim/hubcap on the rear passenger side and a dark-colored wheel/rim on the passenger side.
The investigation is ongoing, and anyone with information regarding any of these incidents should contact the Dover Police Department at 302-736-7130 or Delaware Crime Stoppers at 1-800-TIP-3333. Information may also be submitted here.
