Dover Council explores new security measures at City Hall

DOVER, Del. – City officials shared their safety concerns for City Hall during a council meeting on Friday.

According to the City Manager Donna Mitchell staff members are vulnerable to anyone who walks in.

And, it is why the community is asking city leaders to beef up their security measures.

Mitchell said one way that could be done is with with windows and walls near customer service stations.

“We’ve had some security concerns with City Hall and the accessibility of staff to just anybody walking in and with this day and age where there are security concerns all over the country it’s been brought to our attention,” said Mitchell.

Mitchell also said more security would be added to different entrances of the building.

She said this plan was developed years ago, but has yet to be implemented.
