Domestic disturbance leads to arrest, charges including carrying stolen firearm

FREDERICA, Del. – A Felton man was arrested while under the influence and in possession of a stolen firearm early Sunday morning.

Delaware State Police responded to a report from Third Street of a domestic disturbance at 2:15 AM. We’re told one suspect had fled the scene before police arrived in a white Audi.

A similar car was scene leaving the High Point Park neighborhood on Buffalo Road. The car, driven by 20-year old William H. Cloak IV, was stopped. Police claimed to smell a strong odor of marijuana, and conducted a search.

Police obtained a Glock .40 caliber handgun, with the serial number destroyed, and had been stolen. Cloak was prohibited from carrying a firearm.

Cloak was taken into custody and transported back to Troop 3, where a DUI investigation ensued.

Cloak was arraigned before the Justice of the Peace Court 7 and committed to the Sussex Correctional Institution on $16,700 secured bond.

Cloak was charged with the following:

  • Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony
  • Possession of a Firearm by a Person Prohibited
  • Possession of a Weapon with a Obliterated or Altered Serial Number
  • Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon
  • Receiving a Stolen Firearm
  • Driving While Suspended or Revoked
  • Driving a Vehicle Under the Influence of Drugs.
