Del. Food Bank provides emergency food help for federal workers
MILFORD, Del. – While the federal government continues to stay partially shutdown, the Food Bank of Delaware is stepping up to help out those employees that are affected.
The Food Bank of Delaware is giving those affected the opportunity to receive food assistance by opening their doors in both Newark and Milford.
They say federal workers can come in during the work day once a week and receive a box filled with non-perishables, produce, milk and other USDA products.
“Tomorrow will be the second pay check the federal employees will be missing that are affected by the shutdown and so I think that we know that that would affect anyone of us. That when you miss that first paycheck that’s bad and the second paycheck is even worse so we want to be there for federal employees,” explains Chad Robinson, of Food Bank of Del.
To receive a food package, federal workers just have to show up to one of the Food bank’s locations, show their federal ID and fill out a questionnaire.
