Construction on Marketplace moving forward

CAMBRIDGE, Md. –  Officials are now saying they are moving into phase three of the Cambridge Marketplace project.

With the Starbucks, Taco Bell and Bank of America now open, preparation is now being done on the old K-Mart and social services buildings for future construction.

We’re told they have secured a tenant for the large structure, and the smaller 20-thousand square foot professional center next door will house businesses, attorneys, offices, and medical professionals.

After phase three, the focus will turn to construction on a new Shore Hospital in the shopping center.

“We’re going to get a new hospital out of it, we’re going to get new facilities. The money that’s going to be provided by the real estate taxes, it’s just gonna be a win-win-win for Cambridge, Dorchester and the whole community,” said Charles Fairchild, the president of Fairchild Properties.

We’re told plans for the hospital will be moving forward in the next 18 months.
