Boathouse in the works at Port of Salisbury

SALISBURY, Md. – Downtown revitalization is in full swing as we begin 2019 and among the several areas the city plans to refurbish, one is the port of Salisbury.

Mayor Jake Day envisions the area to serve as commercial and public use space.

This includes restaurants, retail, 55 high end apartments, and a boat house.

Projected to be built right near the kayak launch, the boat house has two components: a possible place for Salisbury University to house its canoe racing team, and a place to store small watercraft.

Mayor Jake Day said, “There are towns up and down the Eastern Shore like Easton and Chestertown that have public boathouses. This is a lot like that. It is somewhere where people can pay to have their boat stored and secured in an indoor facility.”

Mayor Day tells us there’s no set date quite yet when work will be completed as the city is in the early stages of development.
