Boardwalk celebrity documentary makes film debut
OCEAN CITY, Md. – A local film made its much-anticipated debut at the Ocean City Art League Friday night, with its focus on a boardwalk celebrity.
It centers on Joe Kroart, the owner and proprietor of the Ocean Gallery World Center. The ocean gallery has been on the boardwalk for 50 years, and Kroart is well know for his unique marketing, such as sinking a sculpted art car in the Assawoman Bay, or launching a car off the roof of his business.
The team of film makers behind this documentary say their inspiration came was simple. It was an interesting story, one that needed to be told.
It’s not about the gallery, it’s about enjoying art and bringing art to the masses and making art fun,” said filmmaker Trevor Taylor.
“You can learn that Joe has figured out his meaning for life, and he uses that building and his artwork, that gallery to spread that to other people,” said Director Colin Riley.
This film will be shown to the public on February 17. The location for that screening is to be determined, you can find an announcement at the Ocean City Film Festival’s Facebook page.
