Blood bank in need of donations during shortage
DELMARVA – As we head deeper into the winter season, the blood supply decreases significantly.
That’s why the Blood Bank of Delmarva tells 47 ABC they need donors.
We’re told the bank uses the blood for plenty of reasons including patients seeking blood during cancer treatment.
Because it’s flu season, the bank tells 47 ABC that more people tend to get sick this time of year donations are critical.
Donor recruiter Suzanne Murray said, “This time of year we always tend to have a shortage, just like the middle of summer. Between bad weather and illnesses it really reduces the number of people eligible to donate.”
The Blood Bank also tells us that next week they will host their 20th annual blood drive event!
The drive event will be in Ocean City at the convention center on January 22nd and 23rd .
They’re expecting 600 donors within that two-day period so if you have not already, make sure you schedule your appointment.
