2018 Weather Wrap-Up

As we look ahead to 2019, let’s take a look back at Delmarva’s weather in 2018.

Overall, temperatures in 2018 were above average. The average temperature in Salisbury was 58° making it the 6th warmest year on record. We also received A LOT of precipitation. We received 54.52 inches at the Salisbury airport, making it the 8th wettest year on record.

Many months in 2018 cracked the top 5 warmest on record. February and May were actually the 4th warmest, and August was the 5th warmest on record in Salisbury. The 2nd  warmest September was in 2018, as well! The highest temperature recorded in 2018 was 97° on July 2, and the coldest temperature was 3° on January 7.

Along with May being abnormally warm, it was also the 2nd  wettest on record with 9.79 inches of rain received in Salisbury. We also received 8.67 inches of rain in October, making it the 4th wettest on record.

As we look ahead to 2019, the year definitely started on a warm note! Salisbury’s high temperature was 67° on January 1, which was 1 degree shy of a record. Wallops Island and Georgetown actually broke their record highs.
