WiHi boys hoops gets opening night win over Cambridge
SALISBURY, Md.- It was a night to remember for WiHi boys basketball coach Butch Waller.
On top of a 77-57 win over Cambridge, Waller received a special honor, having the court named after him inside the ‘Waller Dome.’
For The Tribe (1-0), it was the first game in the blue and gold for transfer Dorian Stevens. The senior did not disappoint, leading the team with 19 points on the night. Close behind him was Bayside Preseason Player of the Year, junior Jaden Baker with 18 (on his 16th birthday). Keshawn Marshall added 12, and Matt Lowe had 10, including two thunderous dunks.
CSD got out to a quick lead under new head coach Marty Bailey, but the Indians squandered it fast when they put on their full court press.
For the Vikings (0-1), Ty’Onbrae McKnight paced the way with 12, followed by Davion Ralph with 10 and Trannell Clanton with eight.
Next up for WiHi, they travel to Crisfield at 5:30 p.m. Cambridge is set to take the long road trip up to Worton to take on Kent County at 5:30 p.m. as well.
