Wico. Council accepts Connelly Mill property

DELMAR, Md. – The Wicomico County council has finally accepted the Connelly Mill property that has been in the works for some time.

We’re told the 235-acre property will soon be used as a borrow pit for a landfill, and a fraction, about 55 acres worth, could also go to expand the Henry S Parker athletic complex.

County Executive Bob Culver tells 47 ABC one of the biggest assets though, is the fact that some of this land covers the paleo channel, which Culver says, “That’s the Eastern Shore’s largest underground river for drinking water so it helps protect the drinking water for the future.”

The council has yet to finalize when work will start, but it could all happen very soon dependent on the city’s method of getting dump trucks there.
